John Holloway - President & Principal Broker

John has been active in retail and investment property management and leasing since 2003, negotiating and completing over 200 leases, amendments, and/or renewals with residential tenants, local businesses, national tenants, many involving the nation's largest landlords.

 John started his real estate career while attending Indiana University with a focus in Real Estate & Entrepreneurship where he worked  with Jeanne Walters Real Estate as the Property Manager and the first Indiana University student intern. His main focus while working there was creating an effective, efficient leasing process which included redrafting the standard lease and application forms, implementing a background and credit check process for new applicants, showing properties, consulting with owners on required improvements, renegotiating maintenance contracts, enforcing the eviction process from start to finish, and anything else needed for 40 properties that consisted of student rentals, single family homes, and condos.

 

Holloway Commercial & Investments was formed when John was a Leasing Associate for Sandor Development Company, one of the largest retail owners in the nation and Sand Capital, one of the nation’s most active buyers of distressed retail property.  His primary focus there was leasing for big box, small shops, and freestanding buildings for over 1 million square feet throughout Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio.  He worked  with local & national tenants learning the value of getting deals done fast, keeping expenses low, and working effectively.

 

Upon completing his work with Sandor Development, John took the position as Director of Leasing for Moorehead Communications, Inc., one of the nation’s largest Verizon Wireless agents with over 525 stores from coast to coast.  His primary focus there was improving the overall lease administration and leasing processes, including negotiating new leases, renegotiating renewals, and securing over $500,000 in rent reductions along with implementating a real estate committee process. John has also served as the Director of Leasing for Viva Movil, LLC, a JV partnership between Moorehead Communications Inc., Brightstar Corp., and Jennifer Lopez that opened 18 stores in New York, Miami, and LA.  John oversaw the lease procurement and negotiations from start to finish which entailed dealing with some of the nation’s largest landlords and law firms.  John was also involved with the dissolution and termination of leases.

 

John is involved in many philanthropic organizations.  His involvement includes serving as co-chair with his wife for Walk to Defeat ALS.  John is also an ALS Association Advocate, attending the national ALS Advocacy Day Conference (                                  ) on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC and meeting with many Indiana House of Representative Offices and Senate Representatives.  John is an active member of ICSC and formerly served as the Indiana Retail Chair from 2012-2014. John is also involved with the Indiana Next Generation.

 

With the support of many other IU Alumni, John founded and created the IU Real Estate Alumni Network (                                       ) whose mission is connecting IU alumni active in real estate and providing a platform for current students to interact and network with alumni.  IUREAN hosts an annual golf outing in Indianapolis in correlation with the annual alumni dinner.   Proceeds fund Alumni Network events and IU Real Estate Club activities and in which John speaks to annually (                                                 ).  Because of the dedication and commitment  John has shown to the IU Real Estate Program, he was awarded the Outstanding Leadership Award in 2013 by Doug McCoy, Director of the Center for Real Estate Studies at IU at the annual alumni dinner.

 

 Anna McDaniel, owner of What Counts! Accounting since 1993, which is a bookkeeping, payroll, accounting and tax service specialist focused creating process efficiencies and utilizes the Rent Manager platform to collect rents, provide financial reporting, manage expenses, and while providing experienced and personalized service.
