Bill Niemier - Litigation and Transaction Consultant

William T. (“Bill”) Niemier was admitted to practice law in 1990. Niemier recently joined the Senior Management Team at Tharp Investments as General Counsel where he counsels Tharp Investments on all legal matters, prepares leases, contracts, performs development and permitting activities, acquisitions and dispositions, and personally represents Tharp Investments in dispute resolution negotiations and litigation. He previously served as General Counsel for Sandor Development Company for ten years.

 

While at Sandor, Niemier negotiated thousands of retail leases, resolved environmental contamination issues, obtained zoning and development approvals, represented Sandor in all stages of litigation and counseled Sandor on all legal matters. He served as General Counsel for the Indiana Port Commission, Section Chief of the Medical Licensing Division of the Indiana Attorney General’s Office, and began his legal career as a clerk, Associate and Partner at Wood Tuohy Gleason Mercer & Herrin, where his practice focused upon real estate, litigation and appeals. Niemier also maintains a law office in New Palestine, Indiana and serves as a Judge Pro Tem in numerous Marion County courts. He has extensive real estate, problem solving and litigation experience.

 

Niemier was born in South Bend, Indiana. He graduated from Wabash College in 1987, Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis in 1990 and studied law at Oxford University in Oxford, England in 1986. He is a member of the Indianapolis, Indiana State and Seventh Circuit Bar Associations. Niemier actively serves his community as a member of the School Board of Trustees for the Community School Corporation of Southern Hancock County, and lives in New Palestine with his wife and three children.   

Joseph D. Calderon - Property Tax and Zoning Consultant

Joe Calderon (                   ) is a partner in the Real Estate Group at Barnes & Thornburg, LLP based in Indianapolis, Indiana, practicing primarily in the areas of real estate transactions, land use and zoning, and property taxation. He has assisted real estate developers, business owners, individuals, not-for-profits and governmental agencies with their real estate needs by providing a wide variety of services to them. He has more than 20 years experience with zoning, development, leasing and property tax issues, including property tax appeals and property tax abatements, having handled hundreds of zoning cases, property tax assessment appeals and real estate transactions. Mr. Calderon has spoken at numerous seminars and written several articles on these topics.

 

Joe is an alumni of the Indiana University Robert H. Mckinney School of Law - Indianapolis.  Joe is a recipient of the International Council of Shopping Centers Volunteer Leadership Award, MS Society Leadership Award, Best Lawyers’® 2013 Indianapolis Land Use and Zoning Lawyer of the Year, Best Lawyers in America® 2010-2015 Land Use and Zoning/Real Estate, and AV® Peer Review rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

 

Joe was a previous member of the United Way of Central Indiana – Hamilton County Advisory Board (Chair, 2009-2011), is currently a member of the Indianapolis (Land Use and Zoning Section, past and current member of Executive Committee) and Indiana State Bar Associations; International Council of Shopping Centers (State Government Relations Chair); United Way of Central Indiana (member, Human Services Committee and Public Policy Committee) and Indy Rezone Committee.
